This man and his infinite heart and compassion. 💕

On Thursday, my mom, sister and best friend of 23 years and her sister will be at the Garth Brooks concert in Indy. This will be his first performance since the tragedy in Las Vegas. His emotions are usually sky high, it’s one of the reasons he is such an incredible performer. But this week…well, this concert my purse will be stuffed with Kleenex, not lip gloss. 😰

Yesterday, Garth Brooks posted a video discussing his own thoughts regarding the recent events through his Sirius XM channel and his Facebook page. (This photo is a screenshot from that video). In it, he discussed that the show must go on. That music is an outlet, it’s a way to cope, it’s a way to forget…

Garth’s music has been doing just that for me since I was in middle school. It has taken me through the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, and everything in between. It is the soundtrack to my life. A certain song will take me back to that moment in time. That memory. That joy. That pain. Those tears.

But it is always a balm to my soul. It always gets me through.

Garth Brooks has inspired myself, my closest friends, my family, and countless millions of humans across the globe. He will continue to so through his music long after he’s gone.

He has taught me that I’m much too young, to feel this damn old.

He has taught me that love and mercy still exist.

Music will continue to transcend the hate, the borders, the barriers. It’s a universal language that speaks to all.

Despite the natural disasters, the shootings, the division in this country…despite all of the hatred that rages…despite all of the fear I have for my children to continue to grow in this world full of unknowns and to bring their babies into such turmoil.

Despite that.

This heart still believes.

💕

“This heart
Still believes
That love and mercy still exist
While all the hatred rage and so many say
That love is all but pointless in madness such as this
It’s like trying to stop a fire
With the moisture from a kiss

And I hear them saying you’ll never change things
And no matter what you do it’s still the same thing
But it’s not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know
That it will not change me

As long as one heart still holds on
Then hope is never really gone”

(Lyrics from The Change – Garth Brooks)
